Dr. Joel Ying performs an eclectic collection of world folk tales, touching personal stories, and enlightening historical and literary tales. His style is unique, unexpected, and powerful. He is most proud of his one-man show, “Legacy of Love,” a 90-minute collection of world folk tales and personal stories exploring the many forms of love. With Storytellers of the Round Table, he has been producer and emcee of multiple local Storytelling Showcase events. He also performs regularly at Brambles Tea Room.
He is a Teller, Speaker, Emcee, Producer, and Workshop Facilitator. He loves to perform his sets of stories and has adapted them to many different themes. He also loves to coach others and teaches the interactive workshop, “The Personal Story: Touching Hearts, Changing Minds.” He is an active member of Toastmasters public speaking clubs, storytelling guilds, and regularly attends festivals because he also loves to listen to story.
How does a physician become a storyteller? Finding passion, one story at a time. Stories, he will tell you, bring him alive … and he brings that aliveness to his performances to share the magic of story.
From home performances in Naples, Florida, at Brambles Tea Room, Tellabration, and “The Elephant” Storytelling Showcase, his stories have transported him to the Florida Storytelling Festival Stage, Stone Soup Festival New Voice in South Carolina, Timpanogos Swap in Utah…
