ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PERFORMERS – MORNING SESSION
Having been a kid once herself, Ingrid Nixon delights in capturing the imaginations of pint-sized audience members. A traveler, park ranger, and middle child, she tells tales that make this big, wide world feel a little smaller.
Mij Byram is a sought-after Early Childhood Specialist with 20 years-experience using stories to promote literacy and build character from the inside out. Her workshops have trained teachers, librarians, parents, and storytellers from Maine to Florida how to use storytelling to go beyond the intellect and right to the heart.
MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL PERFORMERS – AFTERNOON SESSION
Sam has brought his stories and songs about spacemen and soldiers, lovers and lawmen, actors and outlaws to audiences all over the country and beyond. The tales spring from his work as a songwriter, jazz musician, radio host, high school principal, and author of educational books for kids.
Melinda lives in Miami where she was a longtime storyteller with the Imagination Factory, a storytelling outreach program of the Miami-Dade Public Library System that served thousands of kids. A folktale in her hands is a thing of beauty. She distills the tale down to its raw truth, breathes comic life into its characters and then offers it up with powerful understanding.
