Florida Stage Storytellers
Florida Stage storytelling concerts are held Thursday evening and Sunday morning. In past years, local guilds have submitted tellers from their membership for these slots, but not all FSA members are affiliated with a local guild. So we will expand the field and invite all FSA members to apply for these opportunities.
The Sunday morning concert is themed “Stories From the Heart” while the Thursday evening concert opens the weekend event. There will be three slots available for each concert. Stories may be no longer than 10 minutes. There is no compensation or discount on festival registration for Florida Stage storytellers.
Interested members must submit a video recording of their story along with the Florida Stage Application. Videos may be recorded on a smartphone, tablet or other device and submitted via email or flash drive.
Applications with video must be received no later than January 31 and decisions will be announced on February 15.
K-12 School-Based Festival Storytellers
The festival has received funding from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs to send six storytellers into public schools on Thursday, March 29 and Friday, March 30.
Each of the six storytellers will visit two area schools and receive $1,000 in compensation. There is no festival scholarship or registration discount. Storytellers must be experienced in standards-based school performances and be prepared to deliver up to three grade-level appropriate programs at each school. The application requires specific, detailed information and a minimum of three school-based references. No video is required.
Applications must be received no later than January 20 and decisions will be announced on February 10, 2017.
